Bamberg's old town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and largely pedestrianised – on-site parking is scarce and you barely need a car here. This guide shows where to park in Bamberg, how park & ride works, and what applies during events like Sandkerwa or the Christmas market. Central car parks
Around the old town: Geyerswörthstraße, Atrium, Stadtgalerie and the Kunigundendamm car park. From there it's a few minutes on foot into the pedestrian zone.
Park & ride on the edge
For longer stays, park cheaply on the outskirts: P+R Heinrichsdamm and Kunigundendamm. From there take the bus or walk into the centre – no parking hunt.
Own underground parking space

Where can you park in Bamberg?
Parking in the old town itself is barely possible: the historic core is pedestrianised and the surrounding streets are mostly resident-permit zones. If you come by car, use one of the car parks at the edge of the old town – Geyerswörthstraße, Atrium, Stadtgalerie or Kunigundendamm. From there all the sights are a few minutes' walk away.
Park & ride is cheaper and more relaxed: larger areas on the outskirts at Heinrichsdamm and Kunigundendamm let you take the bus or walk into the centre. For multi-day stays this saves money and hassle.
Parking during events: Sandkerwa & Christmas market
For big events such as Sandkerwa (late August) or the Christmas market (Advent), parking is tight across the whole city centre. Our clear recommendation: come by train – Bamberg is an ICE stop, and from the main station everything is walkable or reachable by bus.
If you still come by car, park in a car park (Atrium, Stadtgalerie) or at P+R Heinrichsdamm and take the bus from there. Expect a longer parking hunt and higher fees on event weekends.
Parking at BM Rooms
The TB 5 holiday apartment on Trimbergstraße includes a dedicated underground parking space – comfortable and secure, with a lift straight to the apartment. The Franz-Ludwig-Straße boarding house and the H4 old-town maisonette have no on-site parking; nearby you'll find resident-permit zones plus the car parks and garages mentioned above. For most guests, a car in Bamberg is unnecessary anyway – everything is walkable.
